Details for "Topic Enhanced: How to Be a Media Darling in the Houston Chronicle & on 'Great Day Houston'!"

We would love for our clients to tell us exactly what they want. This program will do just that! Kim Morgan with the Houston Chronicle and Chris Nocera, producer for "Great Day Houston," the Channel 11 morning show will share what they look for in a story and give us tips on how to approach the news publications the next time you want publicity for yourself or a client. They'll also reveal the absolute, sure-fire ways to never get a story accepted. So, get ready for a day of tried-and-true do's and don'ts!

Speaker Kim Morgan (Houston Chronicle) & Chris Nocera (Reporter and Producer)

Kim Morgan has been freelancing for the Houston Chronicle for five years, ever since moving to Texas from Canada, where she was a television news anchor.

She writes approximately eight to 10 stories a week, mostly features or "people-friendly" articles. Do the math, and that means she writes anywhere from 450 to 500 articles a year.

Last year, she became one of only two freelancers for the Chronicle's Health tab, which prints the third Monday of every month and is readership-wide. Her main health beat is cosmetic surgery, and much to her chagrin, Kim has learned there isn't any place on a woman's body that can't be filled, tweaked or tightened.

Kim, a 36-year-old mother of two and stepmother of one, works closely with several editors, as well as public relations and/or marketing professionals. She believes everyone has a story to tell, and she's honored to be the one to tell it.

In addition, Chris Nocera will tell us about Debra Duncan and her second life in the talk show arena and why the scene is so different today than when she hosted her popular show almost a decade ago. He'll also answer the question: "Why is it so tough to get on local TV - and what can I do about it?"
