LUNCH TOPIC: In the Palm of Your Hand: A Communicator's Guide to Making a Splash on the Mobile Web

Gone are the days when your Web site’s visitors are chained to their desks and laptops – the Web is everywhere thanks to incredible advancements in mobile technology. But how do communicators and marketers respond to this increasingly portable world of communication?  What does your organization need to act on now to get ahead on the mobile Web and what amazing things are in store for us?

Our speaker Ed Schipul will guide us through the ins and outs of the mobile Web, specifically for professional communicators and business professionals wanting to get a head start in the mobile world.  Learn how companies and communities all around the world are using mobile technology to increase their audiences, grow their businesses and connect people as never before.

We’ll take a look at some exciting case studies (everything from a live-video-streaming Congressman to local organizations making their site visitors' lives easier through mobile Web) and new sites and communication strategies that simply cannot be ignored. Ever want to know why hot devices like the iPhone are just the tip of what is to come and how your communications plan fits into it all? Don’t miss this great luncheon as we take a peek into our mobile future!

WORKSHOP TOPIC: Social Media 101+:  Embracing the Rock Star Communicator’s Online Toolset

Social media tools and networking sites are powerful connectors, but can be overwhelming to a communicator just dipping their toes into the YouTube, Blogging and Facebook world. What online tools should your organization use to reach and connect with your target audience? What sites and social networks should you be monitoring and participating in? How can you keep up with the latest and greatest in social media and still have time to sleep?!

Join Ed Schipul, our workshop leader and social media advocate, as he walks participants through the ins and outs of making a real impact through social media.  He’ll discuss the four pillars of a successful social media program, ways to integrate offline campaigns and ideas on how to get social media support from even the most old-school of your communication team members.

Expect useful, real-world social media case studies (the good, the bad and the quirky), tips and tricks on being fluent in the online conversation, and cutting-edge examples of organizations just like yours that are growing their business and client base through powerful, strategic social media outreach.  Bring your laptop, your favorite blog links and sense of adventure as we get you ready to rock on in the social media world.
