The Fabulous La Griglia
Chris Wailes, a vice president at Pierpont Communications, has nearly 20 years experience using the editorial channel to create competition-altering mind-share and market-share for consumer, business-to-business and technology clients. Wailes has been an invited speaker and panelist at national public relations conferences and has been sought for his opinions by the top public relations industry publications.
Wailes fostered a love of the media on Capitol Hill working alongside press secretaries for two members of Congress and two Senatorial committees. He spent nine years in New York City, where his background reads like a history of the personal computing age. Wailes was on the front line of PC computing when he handled editorial relations and national media tours, and orchestrated the media launch of the first Windows program for personal productivity software. Wailes also simultaneously directed the media relations charge for Forbes magazine's "Most Innovative Company in America" (Advent Software, technology for the worldwide Wall Street), Forbes "Top Small Company in America" (Cognizant Technology Solutions, a pioneer in offshore-outsourcing) and British Telecom North America. Non-technology clients included former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clarke, Billy Joel and the Dali Lama.
Wailes returned to Washington, D.C., as the senior media strategist for the Technology Practice Group of Weber Shandwick Worldwide, the world's largest public relations firm. He worked simultaneously directing three editorial campaigns for clients in the national headlines: file-sharing pioneer/renegade Napster in its closely watched battle against the Recording Industry Association of America; a corporate forensic software division of defense contractor Raytheon during the highly charged employer-employee privacy debate, and shortly after 9-11, the world's leading airline and airport security technology firm which sought to expose flaws in U.S. aviation security.
