Event Description

This month's luncheon meeting will spotlight how healthcare institutions are tapping into social media both internally and externally to reach and engage stakeholder audiences. Megan Maisel, Associate Director of Internal Communications, and Jennifer Texada, External Communications Program Manager, at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, will be our speakers.  They will introduce attendees to M.D. Anderson's social media programs, share their thoughts on why health care and other industries should use these tools, and give tips on how to get started.

Registration Deadlines: The lower-price early registration deadline is midnight on Monday before the Thursday event. The final registration deadline is midnight on Wednesday before the event. Online reservations and credit card payments will not be accepted after that time; please pay with check or cash at the door. Because we must order meals Tuesday morning, cancellations cannot be accepted after midnight on Monday, and no-shows will be billed for meals ordered for them. 
 
Space is sometimes available for walk-in attendees. Payment by cash or a check made out to IABC/Houston will be accepted at the door. Credit card payments are accepted only for online reservations.

If you register online but prefer to pay by cash or check at the door, complete the online registration and click the "Pay At Event" button on the electronic invoice screen. This will confirm your registration and pricing.

Special Dietary Needs: Please notify us when you register by putting "vegetarian," "shellfish allergy" or similar notation in "Optional comments" box at bottom of registration screen. Please limit requests to necessities.
 
Table Reservations: A table registration is for ten individuals. You must reserve and pay for all ten seats when you register. After completing the billing information and your own seat reservation, click "Submit Registration." Click the pencil icon in the box for "Registrant 1" to open the form; enter the next registrant; click "Update and Continue" at lower right; then click pencil icon in the next box and enter the next name, etc. After entering all registrants, click Submit.

Biography

 
 
 
Prior to joining M. D. Anderson seven years ago, Megan Maisel was an employee communications specialist for Houston-based Continental Airlines, where she gained experience in global and crisis communications following the events of Sept.11. Maisel’s professional career began on the news desk of Houston’s KTRH Radio, where she learned how to write concise copy on-the-spot. Maisel has a bachelor’s in Radio/Television from the University of Houston.
 
 
 
Jennifer Texada is a communications program manager for External Communications at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. She joined M. D. Anderson in October 2006.  Her primary responsibilities include social media development and management for the institution, and support and training of staff in the use of social media. Texada has 14 years experience in marketing, communications and web project development and is responsible for the inception of M. D. Anderson’s external social media presence.
