The Houston Food Bank is a leader in hunger relief -- feeding 80,000 people each week through a network of charities in 18 southeast Texas counties.
In 2007, the agency re-branded itself by rolling out more focused messages as well as a new logo and tagline featuring a bold graphic of a green apple. “Core” issues take center stage in the Food Bank’s public relations and marketing, although sometimes a big bite of the apple can yield a few seeds!
Food Bank CCO Betsy Ballard will talk about how the agency has managed its phenomenal rise in public awareness in our part of the state, along with some of the challenges and "lessons learned" along the way.
NOTE: this will be our pre-Thanksgiving program and we communicators have much to be thankful for! In lieu of the typical canned-goods collection (which often yields mixed results) we recommend everyone who'd like to contribute bring a cash or a check made payable to Houston Food Bank. A collection box will be placed on the check-in table.
Registration Deadlines: The lower-price early registration deadline is midnight on Monday before the Thursday event. The final registration deadline is midnight on Wednesday before the event. Online reservations and credit card payments will not be accepted after that time; please pay with check or cash at the door. Because we must order meals Tuesday morning, cancellations cannot be accepted after midnight on Monday, and no-shows will be billed for meals ordered for them.
