Event Description

You do some writing for a design firm. The design firm’s client is very happy with the writing; less so with the design. The client contacts you directly and says he is going to pull a second project from the design firm but wants you to continue to do the writing. What do you say?

A friend who teaches a communication course at a college asks you to guest lecture when she is out of town on vacation. This person is paid to teach the class. Do you ask for a guest lecture fee?

Ethics and professional standards. We’d all like to think we’d do the right thing when faced with a difficult business decision. But sometimes, those decisions aren’t so black and white. Join ESIG at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, April 8, at La Griglia, as business coach and advisor, Dave Steitz, guides us through a discussion on professional ethics and standards.

Biography

As coach and advisor, Dave Steitz helps business owners and executives define goals and set priorities, identify and overcome barriers to success, stay focused and on track, develop leadership skills, implement change and maintain balance in their lives.
After nearly a decade of banking and sales experience, Dave founded Typeworks in 1976, a  typographic supplier serving designers, ad agencies and corporate clientele. He grew the business from an idea to the largest in Houston, eventually acquiring competitors, opening locations in other cities and advancing on to desktop publishing.

In 1994, his business was the first digital printing press installation in Southwest, and soon grew to include computer-based learning and digital asset management. It was one of the largest companies of its type in the country when he sold it to AdPlex Printing of Houston in 1997 and took an executive-level position within the company.

In 2001, Dave co-founded Edge Creative Strategies, a custom marketing and advertising boutique, where clients benefited from his decades of experience in marketing, advertising, printing technology and business development. After 30 years of helping others solve critical and complex professional problems, he founded Steitz Partners in 2004 so he could dedicate his full attention to a wider variety of business challenges.
