Event Description

Beyond the Carrot and Stick: How to Win Commitment

Whether you’re dealing with boards, bosses, colleagues, staff members or senior management, winning respect and cultivating influence, cooperation and commitment is a critical skill in today’s business environment. We can no longer “order” things to be done – people don’t respond to the “carrot and stick” approach today. The problems we are solving are no longer simple enough to gain agreement on one solution. We must work through the complexity of work challenges and have the ability to get other people to endorse our initiatives.

If you need to get work done through other people or need to convince another person to buy into an idea or follow up on a request, come to this session to:

  • Understand your personal power
  • Learn how to let work styles and communication differences work for, not against, you
  • Understand the person you’re trying to influence
  • Learn how to adapt your style to the person or situation you’re dealing with
