Details for "Small Business Survival Strategies and What to Do When Things Run into the Ditch!"

Most of the time our businesses run smoothly.  However, there are those special occasions when the wheels fall off and things run into the ditch. Large companies can usually absorb occasional hiccups and corrections.  Problems tend to cause small businesses some substantial stress.

This presentation will share strategies to avoid problems and provide trouble-shooting tips to recover.  We'll learn how to stay on the prosperous road and how to call a wrecker if we find ourselves off the beaten path.  See you there!

Speaker Ken Jones

Ken Jones has more than 25 years of experience creating, building and selling businesses. His background includes an array of responsibilities with documented success in the areas of entrepreneurial development, turnaround management consulting, software development and implementation, and e-business creation. Mr. Jones’ background also includes experience in financial management, sales management and strategic marketing.

Mr. Jones has a passion for Entrepreneurship and his enthusiasm shines most in the classroom. It is apparent his priorities lie with his students’ success. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Houston for the past 11 years, where he has taught Professional Selling and all five courses offered to undergrads in Entrepreneurship: Revenues, Costs, Capital Creation, Corporate Form and Business Plan Preparation. For the past three years, he has been the sole Entrepreneurship instructor at the Graduate level at the College of Business.

Additionally, Mr. Jones has recently been named Director of the Entrepreneur & Venture Development Center at The University of Houston Downtown. His responsibilities include continuing to educate students in the skills of entrepreneurship and new venture creation, in addition to creating and implementing the educational initiatives and community involvement that support the Center’s mission.

He defines an entrepreneur as “one who knows the outcome is up to him and wants it that way.” This definition is proven everyday through his consulting practice, KenJones Partners, which targets small to medium sized businesses and provides strategic as well as practical advisory services for revenue and cost optimization. KenJones Partners also excels in the area of turnarounds and strategic shifts sometimes necessary for early stage businesses.

Mr. Jones has an undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and received his MBA from the University of Houston.
