Senior Writer, Corporate Communications

Job Description

 

Reporting to the Director of Media Relations , this position will be responsible for assisting the department in Corporate Communications and Investor Relations to include writing and generating various pieces of internal and external communication relating to general business activities, and investor related news including press releases and quarterly earnings call scripts.  

 

Responsibilities include:

 

·         Write for www.calpine.com and Calpine Today to ensure accurate information is reflected on both internal and external company websites,

·         Produce various forms of communication, including but not limited to: management scripts; HR-related material; feature stories, news releases, external and internal web content; financial-related material for employees; presentations, and; special topic material.

·         Assist in responding to general public/investor relations calls

 

·          Maintain  currant Project Portfolio data on Calpine’s web site, which entails personally making changes to individual project sheets, the project listing and the project map.

 

·         Work with various groups, including technical and graphics specialists, to ensure consistent project data is used throughout the company.

 

·         Work with various internal groups and outside consultants in ensuring data used in miscellaneous presentations is accurate and consistent with public disclosures and company representations.

 

·         Assist in preparing PowerPoint presentations.

 

·         Assist in developing, implementing and managing enhanced communications plans such as executive on-site meetings; plant tours; CEO-hosted employee meetings, monthly employee business/fun meetings, etc.

Required Experience:

 

Qualifications and experience:

 

·         A degree in Business, Communications, Journalism or a related field.

·         Strong financial writing skills with a demonstrated ability to write quarterly earnings statements,  analyst scripts, quarterly conference call scripts

·         At least 5 years experience working hands-on in a Corporate Communications and/or Investor Relations role.

·         At least 2 years experience working hands-on in a role of communications position

·         Experience in writing various forms of communication, including but not limited to: management scripts; HR-related material; feature stories, news releases, external and internal web content; financial-related material for employees; presentations, and; special topic material.

·         Internal web content writing and development.

·         Excellent business writing skills, for all forms of communication, a must. 

·         Strong verbal communication skills also required.

Working knowledge of PowerPoint Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and/or InDesign or other publishing software a plus

·         Knowledge of the energy industry, a plus
