PR Media Relations Specialist

Health Care Job Description

Individual is responsible for coordinating the Hospital District's media relations processes and projects:

• Develops strategic communications and media plans, and coordinates positive news coverage for HCHD.
• Consults, writes, coordinates, and produces promotional literature, communications pieces for HCHD BEAT service lines.
• Oversees planning and implementation of media events, news conferences, speakers, bureau placement for Beat service lines, dignitary and VIP visits/tours.
• Rotates media on-call responsibilities with other department staff. Represents the department with local, state, national, and international media, responding to media inquiries and serving as HCHD spokesperson when appropriate.

Required Experience:

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing or a related field. The successful candidate will have between five and 15 years in public relations (PR), media relations or a related field, preferably with experience in an agency or corporate environment. Considerable knowledge of PR practices, particularly media relations and experience with all types of media outlets and marketing communication tactics with proven measurable results. Contacts with local and regional media sources and the ability to identify and develop new contacts with national and trade media are desirable. Health care experience is a plus.
